As the 2024-2025 school year draws to a close, the Department of Defense Education Activity (DoDEA) Europe reflects on another successful season of student activities, offering military-connected students across Europe opportunities for growth, learning, and leadership. From the performing arts to STEM competitions, leadership training, and emerging programs, DoDEA Europe’s diverse portfolio of events has provided life-changing educational experiences that will stay with students long after the final bell rings.
Students in Ramstein High School’s Show Choir and Concert Choir recently had the unique opportunity to record a music video featuring their rendition of the song “Flight. At the beginning of May, the choirs recorded the song in a stairwell at the school to capture natural reverb, with the assistance of the school’s IT specialist, Mr. Kruczek.

On Veterans Day, Ramstein High School Air Force JROTC cadets, led by Senior Aerospace Science Instructor Lt. Col. (Retired) Doug Haven, took part in a series of commemorative events in France, honoring the sacrifices of American service members and marking the 106th anniversary of the end of World War I.

Cadet Grayson Schmidt’s journey into the world of aviation began with a simple curiosity about the military. “I joined JROTC to get a taste for the military,” Schmidt said. “I saw how tight-knit the community was and decided I really wanted to be a part of it.” That decision sparked a passion for flight, leading Schmidt toward a future in aeronautics.
