Chinell Callwood
Biography
Ms. Callwood most recently served as the assistant principal at Kaiserslautern Elementary School and is excited to join the leadership team at Ramstein High School.Â
Ms. Callwood joined DoDEA in 2019 as a Technology Education and Computer Science teacher at Kaiserslautern High School. She then went on to serve as a DoDEA Virtual School teacher and fifth grade teacher at Ramstein Intermediate School before her role as the Assistant Principal at Kaiserslautern Elementary. Prior to joining DoDEA, Ms. Callwood was the Program Administrator for Heritage High School Governor’s STEM Academy and University Magnet Program in Newport News, VA. Within this role, she helped to create a challenging and focused school environment that prepared students for 21st Century STEM careers and college readiness. Under her leadership, the program was recognized at both the state and national levels for its diverse course offerings, rigorous academics, and work-based learning opportunities. In addition to being a school administrator, Ms. Callwood has served as a Career & Technical Education (CTE) instructional lead teacher, Virginia Aerospace Science & Technology Master Teacher, and elementary grade level chair.  Â
Ms. Callwood is a graduate of East Carolina University where she earned her Master of Arts in Teaching and a graduate certificate in Computer Education and Instructional Technology. In 2015, she completed her Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership at Old Dominion University. Ms. Callwood has received several professional recognitions, including Langley Air Force Association’s STEM Teacher of the Year and the National Center for Women in Information Technology (NCWIT) Outstanding Educator Award. Currently, Ms. Callwood is pursuing her doctoral degree with a focus in Curriculum and Instruction.Â
Ms. Callwood’s educational background and diverse experiences showcase her commitment to providing equitable learning opportunities for all students. She believes student success is achieved through social and emotional learning paired with rigorous, engaging instruction. With collaborative teams and a data driven focus; she has successfully led the implementation of innovative technology initiatives, effective student-centered teaching, and project-based learning experiences that align with standards-based instruction. As a servant leader, Ms. Callwood is committed to serving the families, staff, and community of Ramstein High School.Â
Ms. Callwood is a proud Air Force wife and mother of three children. Her son, Ty, lives in Virginia and her daughters, Madison and Rylie, attend Ramstein area schools. In her leisure time, she enjoys music, listening to podcasts, yoga, and the opportunity to travel and experience other cultures with her family.
